I just cut down the stock can on my r6, drilled out the rivets around the cap and I can't seem to get the cap off the end so I can put it back on the new short piece of the can ...Does anyone know any tricks to get it off

 

i did this on my buddies old body R6. drilled rivits out and the cap slips off, just really gotta muscle it. try twistin, wiggling, prying, etc it'll come off. If you plan on rippin the guts out we did it the ghetto way: tied a rope to the guts and the other end to a tree then tug of war ... eventually the R6 will win. :YEAH to get the cap back on just pound it back onto the can after you cut it. Then drill pilot holes in the can usin the cap as a stencil, and finally pop new rivits in. wala! you got your self a real clean lookin shorty!

 

I tried everything I could and the damn cap will not budge. I drilled the rivets and beat the hell out of it with no luck what so ever

 

I used a rubber mallet, if it wont budge, then I bet theres still a section of rivet left in the can.

 

trust me the rivets are completely gone, it is just tight as ****

 

keep pulling on it. i just did my little a 4 weeks ago. it will come off. mine pretty much just fall off once the rivets were out.

 

Hit it harder, or with a bigger hammer...

When it doubt..... HIT IT HARDER



Although I didn't say that yesterday after my tank started leaking, oops..

 

yeah dont be ginger with the can, bash that cap off, Also, try using the edge of a table to help get it off.
