Re: 600rr Tank Denting

i did what others told me to do. take off the cover, dent the fuel cell. after than heat the shell and bend until it forms. i started out with the cover on the ground and once i got a start on the 'dent', i put in on the bike and pressed it from there.

it is a little higher up than i am used to, but works fine. no cracks in the plastic.

king jeremy did a mint job on his, looks factory!

his does look really good dented in the back of the tank, did my tank more on the top just enough to get a good lip. Does sit tall but you get used to it. Felt fine once I swapped to DB bars and FullThrottle Triple.

There are quit a few threads on 600RR's now....do a thread search and you'll find alot more you can do....like the idle cable and shyt like that.

i'll be puttin on db bars too but since i got the 05 i'm wonderin' what i should do. i already got a scotts, but with db bars that's gotta go. what other setup should i do damper wise? i know the setup you had for the 03-04 was sick but i'm wondering what i can get for a little cheaper.

redid my setup with shorter risers and picked up a hyperpro damper......better dampetr in my opinion and feels more comfortable with my normal height risers......haven't taken any pics yet, if you want me too I can, just let me know

don't go to db bars, those bikes look much cleaner with stock clip ons, and you can do everything still on the stockers.

true....it CAN be done, and the bikes do look really good with everything stock on em.......BUT it comes down to personal preference and what you feel comfortable with.....make your decision based on what you like, I started out with a trx90, then a trx250, then my 400ex, then played on a dirtbike......clip-ons always felt out of place to me....once I figured out I could put DB bars on there, it was like I was at home on the bike. Just my , but it comes down to personal preference........even though jowalski wanted to hit me when he saw what my RR looked like before it got DB bars, cage, bar, and SF'ed

Re: 600rr Tank Denting

i figured i'd try it out and see how i like it, got some extra tag bars that came with the 450 i got. i like the way mx bars feel so maybe it'll be a good transition for me too. plus the bars are gold and with that and the gold forks and all the other little details i think it'll look pretty cool. we'll see if it feels as good as it looks though.

hey ease whenever you get pics yea throw 'em up. i'd just like to see your whole bike altogether. that hyperpro setup sounds like it'll be a good idea too.

Re: 600rr Tank Denting

I'd try out a buddies bike w/ db bars first...

I was about to "try them out" on my bike till I jumped on a friends bike that had em... let's just say I'll NEVER put db bars on any bike I own.

That's my preference though... I've had clip-ons since '95.

I'll have to take some pics, got to looking and had nothing on my computer. I'll try and remember to do it tomorrow....get pics of tank dent, hyperpro, DB set-up,......I've done so much stuff to that bike to make it feel more like I like it, it really shouldn't be called a 600RR anymore......more like a 600EaZeNuTZ or somin

I agree with you 110%.....I talked a buddy out of doing his bike just yet until he rides mine first.....it comes down to what you feel comfortable with and are used to.....I've even heard of people swapping to thumb throttles because they rode quads for so long.....I rode one for years, but wapped to a twist throttle on it long before a streetbike, otherwise I might have been one of them too!!! Find someone near-by with DB bars already installed and try it out.......you may not like it if you are used to and comfortable with clip-ons......I never was comfortable with clip-ons and I feel completely out of place on my buddy's gsxr with his clip-ons

Re: 600rr Tank Denting

ahhhh i get it now. so you HAVE to have a piston type damper if you run your db bars like how you do. how come you went with the hyperpro now instead of your GPR? easier to get to?

you can do it with the GPR.....BUT look at this pic and see how tall the risers are....crazy tall its so much better now, and the hyperpro is in a whole new class above the GPR(or at least the 6-clicker I had)

Heard it feels like 500 things poking you in the *** at once.....didn't see anyu of it until after I had a guy rhino line the top of my tank. I tried grip tape, but after blowing the *** outta bout 10 pairs of jeans decided it wasn't for me
