2 New Toys

I bought another pistol about a week ago...****** love it. Springfield XD .45. Got a good deal on it. Then today I sold my extra car and decided to take the money up and see what I could get a good .44 Mag for..Ended up leaving the place with a Russian SKS. Ive always shot pistols and shotguns and decided I would like to try out a rifle. Picked it up for 250 bucks with a 30 round mag. I took it out to my parents house (out in the boonies) and was shooting this wall made out of 6x6 railroad ties we made to shoot at, and it was bustin through that thing like butter.

So my question, for all of you that shoot assualt rifles out in the country, what do you have set up so you stop the bullet from hitting your neighbors house? I figured maybe another layer of 6X6s would do it but im open for suggestions.

Anyways heres a picture of my new toys

Now I hope someone breaks in my house so I can stab them with my beyonet .

Thanks for lookin guys.

Re: 2 New Toys

We shoot at targets in front of a huge dirt mound. That works well. I just bought a Glock 22 OD Green as my duty weapon. Its the first striker fired weapon I've owned. Internally they are identical to the XD's but I'd much rather the glass-like trigger break of my DA/SA HK USP .40 compact. The striker trigger feels a little mushy just my

First offall: you over paid for that Russian SKS. Never pay more than $175.

Second: You made a mistake by not getting a Yugoslavian SKS, Its the only SKS with milled and lathed parts unlike the russian and other models that are punched and pot metals.

Third: You shoulda gottten a 40 rounder

I love my SKS'S

First-Prices have gone up. SKS's and AK's are definitely NOT going down in price anymore, nor is the ammo.

Second: I wouldnt say he made a mistake, but I do agree, yugos are the way to go.

Third- If you get any hicap mag to work on an SKS, good job. However, a 40rounder sucks. Anything above 30 usually gets a weak spring and can have troubles feeding. My 40 rounder for my AK SUCKS.

Re: 2 New Toys

honestly. i really don't like SKSs. i like the AK for just blasting **** for fun, i like mausers and nagants for open sight range shooting, and i like a good ole winchester 308 for scoped long ranged shooting. cant go wrong with an ar15 too. we got one of those too. ill try to get pics of all our guns. its sort of a hobby me and my dad share.
so far between us we have the following

Romanian AK stamped receiver (garbage)
Rock River Arms CAR-15 (BAD *** GUN)
Mosin-Nagant m44
Mosin-Nagant 91/30 period authentic sniper rifle (sweet gun)
German Mauser made in the Berlin Mauser factory
Mossberg 590 SP 9-shot 12ga with rifle sights
Czech cz-52 (7.62 x 25mm)
30-06 Springfield

and plenty of ammo.

a tip to get armored piercing rounds.. take a magnet to a gun show. the magnet should stick the the round. weve seen some people claiming AP rounds and all they did was put bulk eastern block ammo in AP metal marked cases.

we always just make sure we are shooting into a hill. def works the best. also, we normally goto the actual DNR gun range here.

but you can also find target rounds that aren't as heavy as a normal round which are used for military training. they are actually a plastic projectile. when fired they are alot different, but safer as far as over shooting as target over penetration goes.

For the SKS the only hi cap mags we've found to work are called "USA Clips" but un fortunately they arent in produciton anymore. but you can sometimes goto gun shows and find em.

Re: 2 New Toys

I havent seen to much of a price increase in the SKS's lately. The ammo definitely has jumped to a higher bracket but I havent really noticed to much of a increase in the SKS. The hi cap magazines vary from clip to clip. When its pre ban you never know.
