SKS Problems?

I have a problem with my Yugo SKS. It fired fine until recently... ..But now it doesnt eject the shell. I think I might have to clean out the gas system but I'm not really sure....I'm thinking that the sticky greasy stuff that the gun came in might be still stuck in the gas system and clogging up the works.... So if anyone else has had this problem let me know.. Thanks!

Re: SKS Problems?

It's not ejecting? Chances are you got a lot of nasty **** built up on the extractor. Pull the bolt back and pull the trigger to lock it in place, and look at the 'claws,' theres probably grime in there...

Re: SKS Problems?

if you still have a sh!tload of cosmelene still in the gun thats not good. You should definately do a total strip and try and clean that badboy out. get all the carbon and whatnot out of her. seccondly, what type of ammo were you firing? check the primers and make sure they are all getting a good dent from the firing pin and that will tell you right there wether the pin is getting sent forward hard enough and with enough pressure. If they look like they are weak, clean the crap outta your gas system.

I just got done doing a complete overhaul on the gun. I even put the stock in the dish washer like I was told on "pots and pans" cycle and it totally cleaned the cosmelene off of the stock and out of the wood. I'll test fire it tomorrow and see what happens?

Re: SKS Problems?

You need to clean the gun when it's hot/warm to really clean all that cosmelene out of it. Fire about 30 or so rounds then do a total strip down and clean it really good.

Re: SKS Problems?

The dish washer thing works awesome, it stripped the wood of any oils.. I painted the stock flat black and made it give that nasty swat look! LOOKS GOOD!

Re: SKS Problems?

Does anyone know what the modifications that are required to make AK-47 clips work on the SKS? Let me know!

Don't do it. Usually those things cause nothing but trouble.. Lots of feeding problems and such. If ya want AK mags, get an AK......

Just my opinion.
