favorite style
Just to get some more topics in here...
What's your favorite style of gun? Personally I love rifles, mainly sniper/tactical rifles. I'm not to big on your normal wooden stock or stainless barrels and what not. If you gave me one gun to own and that's it, it would have to be a Remington 700 in .308 with the harris bipond, leupold scope..basically an m40a3, haha. But tactical/assault setup's are my main prefernce. I don't like shotguns or handguns too much, but I will own a few.
I have a feeling most people will say modern assault weapons, butttt I'm sure theres a few that like the old school k98's, garands and all that jazz

Re: favorite style
Im so new to guns after livin in Canada and in Illinois, I dont know much about much.
I have fired my SKS, my buddy's AK47, AR15, S&W 40 & 45, H&K 45, Sig P223 ? .45, my Taurus PT-111 pro, a PT-111, a mini Glock, and a few other handguns plus a couple shotguns... oh and a couple .22s.
My favorites are the assault rifles. Rifles are great, I like the 30-40 rd mags. Plus its fun to go out in the forest and shoot holes through 1/4 thick steel with some FMJs hehe

I was in the Infantry for 7 years, I've fired everything the Army has to offer......combat efferctive weapons are the way to go......one of my favorite all around is the SKS, effective long range, accurate as hell, built in bayonet, and 4 pieces, it will never jam, 7.62 x 39.......plus there are a crap load of mods you can do to them!!

I was also told some crap about how the 5.56 round is a fatality producing weapon from the tumbling effect, where as the 7.62 will go straight thru and leave wounded that need to be tended to......blah blah blah......
two weapons I'd want in combat:
1 - SKS/AK-47 (preferrable the AK with the 120 round drum)
2 - double barrel 12 ga, sawwed off to the size of a handgun.
speaking of the 120 round drum.....anyone know where I can get one for an SKS??? PM me.....more then willing to pay good $$ for it!!

Re: favorite style
the ak is not a precision rifle. thats why it is so reliable. less moving parts and the tollerances are not as tight as an ar-15. thats why dust mud dirt will not affect the weapon.. the ar-15 is made with tighter tollerances so you dont have the freedom of not cleaning it all the time..the ar is way more accurate. but the ak is more fun to shoot.. i have a russian sks a pollytech legend ak-47 2 sar-1s and an ar-15 amongst other various weapons. but if you want to be accurate and keep youe lead on target get an ar.. if you want something thats cheap to shoot and fun get an ak

Re: favorite style
My AK jammed................But that's because of the 40 rd. mag.
And like they said, the tolerances are so lose so they keep on working...much like a glock. And, I have read and seen pics of some areas of our special forces using AK variants. The ak and sks are very accurate for civilian use, where you won't go much more then 2-300 yards, but the AR is more effective at longer ranges. I believe it's just in the design with the loseness of the AK that makes it fairly inaccurate at longer ranges because they have had them in differant calibers like 7.62x39, .308, 5.45x39 and .223 and I believe the results were about the same..
