stunt bike suspension setup

is suspension setup a must on a stunt bike? i noticed some of you lads running different forks on 636s, is this just to take advantage of 6 pots for stoppies? does a sorted back shock help with circles or does it make jack **** of a difference?!

Re: stunt bike suspension setup

On the rear stiffer is better (in fact on the front too) people change the fork on B1h because of this

Seen that picture a few times, is it definatley real ?

Shane, tighten up your rear shock to hardest setting, stopps the bike acting like a pogo-stick when your trying to circle.

Re: stunt bike suspension setup

thanks alot t-style.. my back shock is quiet soft and it didnt feel right hence why i posted up this question... should i turn dampening and rebound up to the very last or will i back off a notch or 2 on both? or will i just turn up 1 and not the other? and is there anything mods for the standard forks i should know about that might help? cheers..

i run both the rebound and the compression on full hard and i tighten the spring/preload setting also ..

i like this setting for every thing including stoppies , i know most people will say the rear has nothing to do with stoppies but it did for me

so about the fork rebound on a 600rr...? is it bad to stiffen or whatever u call it.... and how do i do it with both of them being equally soft... i want to run them softer cause when i endo i have to really throw my weight forward to get it up just a little.... was wondering what u guys recommend....? and if i dnt use my weight the front tire just skids..... lol

for short stoppies set the rebound to stiff and the compression to soft so the front of the bike will dive and not bounce back up but as your stoppies get longer and faster you will probably end up stiffening up the compression setting too ..

as far as the tire skidding thats all about a good tire and technique

the original topic was rear but you asked about front ..

the front forks have 3 settings

1 compression- that setting controls the rate the fork goes down

2 rebound- that setting controls the rate the fork rises

3 preload- that setting controls the tension on the spring inside the fork and will effect both the compression and the rebound

a good way to learn how your settings effect the bike i suggest turning all of them to the softest settings and bounce the bike up and down then one at a time turnthem to full hard and bounce the bike so you can see what they do ..

h = hard s=soft , the little flat head looking screw thing is what you turn to make the adjustment and if you do what i said in my previous post you will be able to tell if the top setting is your compression or your rebound because when you turn it to h it will either go down slower or go up slower then put it back to soft and do the same thing on the bottom setting ....

the spring preload will be at the top , i dont have a honda but it should be a hex shaped adjustment around the flat head looking adjustment that will put pressure on the spring when you turn it clockwise

Re: stunt bike suspension setup

I've never changed my settings on the rear. Once its up, then its up. I cant see how the shock will make much difference, but then again i've never changed it so i wouldn't know

But as for the front, i like a nice stiff one

I dont have it on full stiff settings for one reason, landing a wheelie or mouse trapping. That way i hope i'll save my fork seals for longer.
