what bike to choose

hi all im going to be getting a bike to stunt in the next few months and was thinking a 636 b1h because of ease of getting stunt related parts
but i was wondering if the z750 has the oil pick up near the back of the engine like a 636? as ive been offered a cheap one at work

Re: what bike to choose

When your learning (like me) you need a bike that has a good cheap supply of parts were as 636s are short on parts which makes stuff alot more ££ than they need to be. Fuel pumps can go for £80 rear wheels(if you can get one are £150+ and so on. The Z750 shares some parts with the 636 but not to many but it is also at least 22kg heavyer (you go down to a gym and pick a 20kg disc up).

Any bike can be stunted up and there is no "best bike for stunting" www.stuntbikestore.com (shameless ) can get any sprocket within 15days for any bike at any size. Cages and 12bars etc can be made for any bike. And rear brake stuff to is almost universal 99%.

Max can rock on his Z750 because Max has put the time in and is a very good rider but on the other hand someone like birde or Gsxr Carlos have fully stunted up bikes but have not put the time in (for what ever reason) so can't do ****.

If you can get a cheap fuel injected bike like a Z750 the buy it strip some of the weight of it and get praticing if not buy a FI 600 (any) on a cat D and slowly convert it then pratice and when youve praticed go pratice more

I dont think its about the bike it just what you get used to and yes when your learning you will through the bike down hard...

Try dirtyroots on here he has a 97/98 fireblade he ll sell probably 700-800 send him a pm. It is geared up (not sure what), has a FI cage, and a 12 bar. It does need a new left foot hanger but are easy to get hold of and cheap for bits.
It has alot of spares, 2x tanks, fairings, wheels, and a couple of boxes of bits i should know there in my pissing garage...

What pez sais is right the Z750 is heavy as ****!! And there is a common problem of the engines falling from the frame i never expirienced a problem but if your just learning and gonna be dropping the front end hard i wouldnt choose a Z..

Re: what bike to choose

Like every one else has said. 636 is not a good first stunter. They do not like being pan caked. They crack heads and bend valves when dropped hard. Hanksy toddy and me have all done heads now. plus the frames crack , Great stunters but break easy.
Hey Pez are i didnt know birdie and carlos were still riding ????

Bit harsh don't you think?

My bike (2nd GSXR) cost me £1300 and has no fairings, a cage, homemade 12 bar cos i've smashed the back end twice, and easy pull clutch lever. Is that not advisable for someone who wants to start stunting?

As for birdie's bike, he got it before we started trying to stunt, and has the same extra's as mine, the only difference is he's upped his gearing slightly +3 i think cos he still uses his bike on the road

so can you explain to me how our bikes are any different to what you've just advised?

What Pez meant was.....

Someone who has put time in practicing, For example, Max, can jump about bikes and be able to stunt on them, as he has spent alot of time learning rear brake control (DT50) so now that he has a z750 he can still wheelie that as its all the same control, and he knows the feeling, so in theory, with a good rider, most bikes will make a good stunt bike (for someone who has put the hours/years in).
Also, just because you go an buy a top stunt bike as your first stunt bike (for example, 636/f4i) it wont instantly make you as good as everyone else who uses that bike.
He then used you both as an example, as you have good common stunt bikes, but havent put much practice in (which the reason to this could be anything in your lives) to show that, buying a stunt bike everyone has wont make it 'easy'.
So in short, most bikes can be a good stunt bike ( depending on rider).
Look at Pfieffer on his old Ducati Monster, or his current BMW. Who would of thought about using one of those as a pure stunt bike.

Hope that made sense as i always get lost inside my own head as i type

Re: what bike to choose

It was not a go at you in person Carlos just the fact that the bike is half the deal you need to ride ride ride. When I started I would ride ever other weekend or so and fell of may be once then I started to ride every week and fell off more (started to try) I now intend to ride twice aweek and fall of hourly (trying harder)
