ant... builds new tail for 12 bar

My undertray was snapped after i flipped the bike so i figue it couldn't hurt to try and remodel it to allow my foot access to the 12 and close the tail up.

So here is my first attempt at building motorcycle plastics, it took me a good 8 hours and cost £20 to complete.

Yes they are, but only because the 12 is set at the 2nd angle (slightly higher). The undertray had that lip above the lights anyway.

No its not completely straight and i can't work out why because its lined up perfect with the sub frame. I think it should be fine for scraping though.

Defo, where & when is it?

Re: ant... builds new tail for 12 bar

If i had to do it in my garage it would of been a disater, but with all the right tools at work i was half way there.

Seen as the tail was broke i though this would be a great learning excercise, i would love to build & finish bodywork to a pro standard.

birdie - if your doing something similar your welcome to do it at my spot one weekend.

looks a neat job with the flat-black paint on. That filling n glassing takes alot of time don't it. I roof-chopped a VW camper once and I get a bit freaked out by the smell of filler now.

Van look sweet & its so you
i don't normally like VW campers but that has a great colour & stuff.

Finally it got glossed & laquered with rattle cans, next time im gonna learn to use the compressor so the paint dries better, it got finger prints embossed in it when i was installing the tail.

Fibreglass & resin is messy stuff, i plan on learning more because i had trouble fibreglassing 90 degree joints.

The whole thing was a fine line between enjoyment & frustration

Re: ant... builds new tail for 12 bar

yeah man, but it give the little guy a chance at building his own nice bodywork, would be almost impossible for me to do it in metal.

If your experienced at using it mate i wouldn't mind a few tips or i might look for a forum.
