old school and new school stuntriding?

been looking at the older pics as in cbo ' wheelie boys ' and a few other stunters a few years back. mostly nearly stock bikes no cages and bars just bigger gearing and a bar break. it looks so much better i think. the more time stunting is going on the less there is on the bike and more protection. there wont be a bike left soon just a big cage lol. how many other people thinks this?

Re: old school and new school stuntriding?

not me... a cage and subcage isn't really making a MASSIVE change to the looks of a bike, ok it doesn't look 100% stock but stunting has moved on lots from pow pow wheelies on the roads to circles and stuff where running without a cage isn't really an option... its all cool!

full fairing bikes as stock as possible look the business. :YEAH anyone still riding with no handbrake and not doing all the latest tricks, well IMO they are just stuck in the past and need to move with the times and realise that 95% of people are now better than them!

Re: old school and new school stuntriding?

I kinda feel like big long fast wheelies aren't stunting at all. The technical stuff like circles and super slow **** where you need so much skill to turn and keep the bike up is where stunting is...IMO

Re: old school and new school stuntriding?

i thnk the one reason the protection has been added to the bikes is cuz people arent rocking the 90's and eraly 00' bikes in the past 4-5 years bikes have seem to have gotten more fragile, there not the big tanks that could take a beating like the 900rrs back in the day. that and the cost to replace them is higher cuz they dont make the same model for 5 years in a row with only small changes from year to year.

Re: old school and new school stuntriding?

I thin ff bike are awesome, i'd like to try and stay as stock looking as i can.
But like OMR said, i'd need a cage bar brake and sub cage.

Everythin must move on. Look at the car, 10 os so years ago, we had cossies and old 911's, now we have 250mph bugaties, i'm sure we wouldn't if the makes said, i dont wona kit that new turbo cuz its not old skool

But i do like to watch old skool dvd's, and remeber what it was like when i started stunting:YEAH

I think I'm pretty lucky in the way that i got into stunting when everyone was already riding crunchy pieces and doing tech ****, so I don't know any different.

Re: old school and new school stuntriding?

Keeping the bikes old-skool FF with minimum stunt-parts is what I like, I run a big SI cage but I'd prefer the stealthier FI item.
Nu (and 2kool4) School stunting is way to go IMO.

Yo right about the old CBR9's being tanks with lots of interchangable parts - that was good. My 6durty breaks in the garage while I'm using the spanners on it! And e-gay is being sharked day and night by the rest of the SL crew, so parts don't come easy.

I'm looking out the window now at Liverpool airport's runway - what a spot!

having an fi cage looks good but they break your stator cover and tend to rip out motor mounts,if your cage does all that damage just run with out one...
