10psi for wheelies

10psi for wheelies
I knew something was wrong before yes i might of been barking up the wrong tree with the gears but todays practice with 12psi in the tyres was a breakthrough for me.
The clutch also needed loosening many clicks, that gave me more control over the bite.
When the tyres were warm or off cold the front was coming up regularly and consistently, depending on whether i had the engine revving right :YEAH :YEAH :YEAH
My Findings
Im sure your going to tell me im doing it wrong but this is what i found today:-
It wasn't enough to have the revs stable at 6K dip the clutch and re-engage.
The engine needed to be accelerating/gaining revs and dip the clutch at 6K+, re-engage the clutch and add a quick burst of throttle to get the nose up, then a couple of times it held ok and i felt like bringing it up a touch more, before i remembered the wall at the end of the gated car park.
Also the hand controlling my stock clutch was killing after 10mins, got to sort that next.
to those who suggested 10-15 psi, i feel like its atleast possible for me to learn now.

Re: 10psi for wheelies
Im sure I could go back to 20psi in the summer but it hasn't been working for me, too inconsistent.
If I atleast can get the front up smooth, then I can concentrate on controlling it and learning the rear brake.

Re: 10psi for wheelies
Some of the top riders only use 20 psi it will prob take you a long time to get up to that presure. Keep it at 10 or 12 while learning.

Love your teaching vandal, if you ever wanna give up the engineering
Im gonna buy a tyre inflator for the works compressor this weekend, 10psi is a bitch for high speed cornering
Cheers mate

Re: 10psi for wheelies
I run about 35 to 40 in my powers. Im not a fan of low pressure at all. I started at about 15 for a week before I got tags and ****. No fun with a flat tire going down the highway. And wheelies felt better to me. rolls better .to each his own

Re: 10psi for wheelies
depends if youve got traction man, last summer 35 was fine for power wheelies, but this week 20 just wont cut it for slow wheelies.
But 10psi is wobbley as **** on the road coming home tonight, i just cant go slow though.
