big sprockets.....

what a pain in the *** to get big sprockets in this country!
ok so here is the plan
i found a company who will cut me any size sprocket i want for any bike, so i was going to get them to cut me 50 different sprockets to keep the costs down and that way if any of you lot need sprockets you can have them off the shelf instead of waiting a month for them to be cut out of blanks.
what i need to know is:

*what material do you think is best? (ally or steel)
*what size does everyone run?
*what bike?

i just need the info to get the most common sizes so i dont end up with lots of sprockets that no one needs...

i run a 64t ally sprocket on my f4i.....

Re: big sprockets.....

Ally is softer than steel isn't it? so steel is probably best
i run standard at the minute so anything from 45 teeth upwards

Re: big sprockets.....

i know about the hassle as just had to do mine got a 56 in ally
but would have prefered steel but couldnt find any i think the f4i and blade have the same fittings so could sort both 525 chain prob best also as not all bikes can run 530 eaisly mine wont cant get the right offset on the front sprocket how much are the going to work out cos because if there in steel might take a 56 tooth and change it anyway

Re: big sprockets.....

I think 60t will be the most commonly used size, and f4i/636 the most common bikes.

I like my gearing atm, so I'd be interested in a 60t for when you get them cut.

Re: big sprockets.....

The alloy used for sprockets is not the same as say a frame so alloy is not to bad but the weight of steel would be 3 to 4 times more( may be more as the dia' increases) and because stunt bikes are not doing many miles on the road the heat is low ,alloy would last as long as the rest of the bike if lubed every now and then.
Also the cost of machining for steel is greater than alloy

Re: big sprockets.....

F4i, 60T, Alloy is fine, 520 pitch preffered but if everyone wants 525 I'll go with that... star designs sound cool, like it.

Can't afford yet though but would definetly buy one off you in the future if the price aint too bad!

Re: big sprockets.....

I'd go

+5
+10
+15

Then people can go down or up 1 or 2 in the front to get almost any gearing they wont from that.

Get most for
f4i's
636's
gsxr's
900rr

If you get 5 of each size for each bike, that works out to 60 set's.
Just an idea
