was riding in the dunes this past saturday with the Z, when i took off my 12 brace, and notice a small crack on my stock bar. didn't think much of it and rode it all day. it was time to go so i checked out the crack, of course now it was now all the way through. now i still have the 12 bar, but the stock bar is done. cracked all the way through on the left side, one more scrape on its snapping right off. Any suggestions on what i should do? Don't feel like spending 500 dollars for a whole new sub frame. (i thought maybe cutting the stock bar off and welding my 12 bar to the back of the frame directly)any thoughts? or pics of ur 12 bars? thanks

 

Just weld up the crack and grind it down smooth. Repaint and you're good as new. Or you might cut off that part slide a piece of solid rod the same diameter as the inside of the grab bar, weld the solid rod inside the grab bar on both ends w about an 1/8" gap between the two pieces of the grab bar, then fill in the space and grind smooth. This will be stronger than original but a little tougher to do.

 

did you drill the bar into the subframe? i made a bar that doesnt, it slips on and then up put a U bolt through. but if it isnt that big i would just weld it over. i will find some pics of my bar.
