I suppose you were posting this to see what people think...

I guess you'd have to try it out. Anyone can claim its "best" or whatever, but you'll never really know until someone has tried it. I do know however we use very similar filters on the F108 jet engines on the kc-135 stratotanker. There are 5 metal-screen filters on each engine and they seem to work. The only thing different in those is that there is a magnet inside the filter. That way it traps all fragments or particles, and you can then see what is breaking down when you do an inspection. If they had magnets in them, I think they'd deffinately be worth trying. Just my opinion.

Has anyone tried these?

Yes i have i had on in my 400ex. Beatsthe hell outta worrying about new paper filters. Its pretty cool because you can take them apart. The ball and spring are removable for internal cleaning. I know a couple guys who race that use them.
