Has anyone ever......

Just wondering who's put an EX or Z in the back of an S-10 box. I've hauled one in mine before, but I recall having to need the help of someone pulling the frontend over the wheel wells while someone pushed the quad up onto the bed.

If you've hauled one in an S-10... how do you load it.... ramp, two people, platform???? Any helpful hints would be appreciated.... thanks.

Yeah, with Ramps it would be cake. If no ramps then two people can do it easy enough. My dad used to have a flair side ranger and my quad wouldn't fit in it straight...it was sorta sitting at an angle (one side higher than the other) cause of the width. Also the rear end would not fit in the back at all...the rails on the side of where the tailgate closes made it too narrow. I think you saw it in there before, looks pretty retarded....lol. Luckily your truck has the regular box so you don't have that problem.

Using ramps though??? How much are ramps??? And are the ramps 6ft long to tuck under the quad so you can close the tailgate?

I havent heard of not using ramps..of course the utilities are too heavy to lift up like that i guess. ramps are around 100$, and yes, you can fold it up to fit under teh quad and then close the tailgate.

Re: Has anyone ever......

well i do two things.... i use ramps.. but to hell with them expensive ones go to Home Depot and get 2 6ft 2x10 or even 2x12 for about 20 bucks total and you got some ramps... otherwise two people loading it up.. get the front wheels up on the truck then one person holds bars straight and other pushes like hell to get one of the tires over the wheel well... just be carefull cause if you go up the ramps and over the wells to fast and slam into the front of the box you will dent it! kriefy knows what im talking about

My dad has a 1500 stepside, and teh 2 quads i have now barely fit. But it gets the job done. Speaking of dents...somebody i know actually knocked their rear window into pieces accidently hitting it

Re: Has anyone ever......

andrew...i just bought a s10 a 2003.......um its easier to just get 2 people one to push and one to lift over the humps....or you can just run right over them..but it puts dents in the humps...if you have sometype of bedliner it is fine to just run over them or if you just dont care about your bed...

i payed $30 fro my ramps...home depot has a kit that just comes with the part that you lay on your bed.....its like $20 bucks....then the wood i spent like $8 bucks on also from homedepot....i also cut them down to make it fit in my truck..they were 8foot..i cut them down to almost 6ft so they always just lay flat in my truck...if you would like i could take a picture of them for you....

steve

The wood is fine when its dry out. Where i ride though, it demands aluminum ramps just to get the nessary traction. Alot easier backing down too. Another thing is weight. On sport quads, i dont think it would matter much, but with the big 4x4 utilities, the wood ramps would sag so much, that i didnt feel comfy even using them. Plus, they dont leave much room for error.

We have the 130$ one. Except we got ours for 100$ locally.

Plus, When you go riding; you can back yoru truck over the aluminum ramps so nobody messes with them. Never tried with the woods though. I would kinda think they would crack.

Oh, Yea I bought I think it was one 12 foot borde and cut it down so the tailgate would close. and with the two scraps i put them behind the rear wheels so when you close the tailgate you don't have to use tiedowns. **** I don't even leave it in gear it don't move at all.

Re: Has anyone ever......

Im sure it difefrent with a sport quad because they weigh like 200-300lbs lighter. I have seen many times where the big utitilies with mud still on the tires on wet boards just spin...almost off the side.

speaking of kicking the ramps out i use to have a 94 s10 and instead of the front wheels riding over the wells they got stuck and the ramps shot out i destroyed my tailgate and almost ended upside down on the ground wit the quad on top of me no more ramps 4 me

Re: Has anyone ever......

Thats why i use aluminum ramps. They have a saftey cable that attaches on 2 holes in the tailgate..no more slipping for me.

I just bought a set of alumminum ramps tonight for 90 bucks form farm and fleet( dont know if any of you have this store around you) They weigh nearly nothin and have the straps to hook to your truck,so the ramps dont slide out.
