2003 z400 clutch

I f'ed my stock clutch up pulling a friend's 4x4 out of the mud one day, it wouldn't grab completely and all i had was the first very little bit of the lever as far as clutch pull goes. i went and got a new Barnett dirt digger clutch, and put it in. with the cover still off but the pressure plate on and the springs tightened down, the lever has no feel at all. it moves the rod in the clutch a little bit, but isn't able to disengage the clutch. anyone know what the hell i'm doing wrong??

I think you have to have the cover on to get proper tension.... doesn't part of the mechanism touch the clutch cover (in the center somewhere ?) I know on some dirtbike clutches that I've done....this was the case. good luck

Re: 2003 z400 clutch

check the pushrod for straightness or there might be a problem with the cam deal that actuates the pushrod (part #18)
