anyone ever skitched on a quad?

Alright heres the deal, I wanna learn to skitch real bad and think I might mess around w/ it this weekend. Basically I think is what i'm gonna do is have a driver and either sit behind the driver and hop off the back or start off from standing still hanging on from the back w/ most of the weight off my feet. I really don't know much about skitching but its something I'd like to do and I'd just like to know how you guys think is the best way too do it/learn it. I think i'm pry gonna do it in second gear? Is this too slow?

I use tail skiing as an integral part of our show. Tail ski off the back, and handslap with another guy tailskiing off the back of a bike. IT is possible, I usually do it by getting up to speed and throwing myself off the back of the quad, with my belt hanging on the grab bar. Side skiing is a bit more diffucult, as you tend to get hung up in the wheels when you try it, but it is possible. I've done it on the Raptor and the 230. Just have to be careful, on a bike you don't have a set of back tires to worry about. On a quad, it'll ****** you off and run you over.

so you don't do it with somone else running the throttle while you hang off the back? How do you get back on, or do you? Should are start off kinda slow when I do it?

Nausty, since I know your a dirt rider for the most part, I want to suggest something to you that I've learned from experience and witnessed (vtwoodsrider). DON'T WEAR YOUR MX BOOTS when you do it. It'll ****'em all up. Vtwoodsrider ripped both metal toes off while doing an apehanger. I know their replacable and all, but it's still not worth it. Just figured I'd let you know incase you hadn't thought about it yet.

I've done it with someone else driving

I had my friend drive and I skitched off of the back in 3rd gear for about 100 yards, it pretty easy just keep your legs stiff so they will not catch traction and ****** you *** off, *** far as the by yourself sktchen I would say go into 4th and just slide off of the back on your stomach to practice and let your feet hang off of the back then gradually come of more until you can support all of you weight on your feet.

I usually idle it up, and stick in 4th to ski off the back. It's pretty easy to do, insanely easy, actually. Just be sure you know where your grab points are to get back on the thing, or it will take you straight into whatever you are aimed at.

Couldn't get it. I tryed it a lot of times today and couldn't ever get it down. I was doing it at the top of first gear which I think is too slow but i'm to affraid to do it any faster. I did one cool thing today though. I learned to ride w/ one foot on the ground on a wheelie which is super easy and learned to drag both feet. It surpising since I was parinoid w/ cops and all and didn't get much time to learn anything. THe only thing I got a pic of was me dragging one foot because we were video taping most of it.

Dojn't get your spirits down, dude. Skiing off the back takes a little practice to get right. Slowly put more and more weight on your feet till you get the feel of it. God knows I fed that Craptor we had a few lightpoles learning how to do it myself.....

And the other guy's cheating. Looks to me like he's doing it on ice!!!

lol, I just can't see myself being able to do it. Seems like no matter what when I was trying my legs would always catch no matter how hard I tryed.
