I wanted to pick out my tires...How does everyone do this?? I mean do you just run the tires flat with picks or?? I am confused but definetly interested if anyone can help!

 

Run screws thru the tire (from the inside)then Put a Layer of
Liquid nails over all of them (agian from the inside)If you can
run a tube that would also help...

Or Use Snowmobile StuDs (depending how big and How Many Ya
wannA run).

There are probably many ways to do it but those are things

Dam!! I was hopin not to take the tire off the rim...I have a tough time gettin them on and off. The dam metal wires and beads make it a serious hassle!

just get studs tires stay on the rims the duro street tires would be perfect if you want a lot of studs. thay make real studs for tires

 

get kold kutter ice screws.

 

what he said...and only run the tires on the ice...dont even roll them on tarmack or dirt...they will dull....put about a 1000 cold cutters in each tire...you'll hook up on the ice harder than a pair of stick street tires on pavement!

 

Not exactly, the lugged tires work the best In my opinion the flex from the lugs helps to drill the screws into the ice and clear snow or ice dust away for a better contact.

As for the process of studding them, I have heard of guys that use actual studs, I have also heard horror stories about them ripping tires apart.

Get some pro gold or kutter screws leave the tire on the rim, I suggest you use like 1" or longer screws, flatten the tires so the rubber is plyable. Also when you put them in don't put them in straight whe you are looking straight down on the tire go about 1/3 of the way around the top half and put them in straigh down there this way they will be ****ed forward a little, they stay in the ice longer this way. The when tou have them all in go back and straighten them all so the grooves are all parellel to the axels of the quad

Remeber how tires wear too they wear the back of the lugs off first so more studs in the back of the lugs and less in the fron. Kenda dominators are the best front tires you could have in the opinion of every ice racer I know, the side wall traction is awsome for drifting. And any soft ply holeshot or shi chin (sp?) tire in the rear is the way to go, the flater the better tho, ballon style tires **** on ice.

Or if you want I have a pair that didn't get used last year on ITP rims and all studed up already for sale for 500 obo!

i still think i could put 5000 studs atleast per tire on back 3500 in fronts would be better than any other tire. personaly i dont need studs on ice just for high chairs and other front end tricks.

 

but like Kutz said you need something that can clean out the snow, the Duros wont do that, here isnt enough of an open tread.

Less pressure per surface area, they'd look sick as hell studded up tho

 

The first time I stidded my dirtbike I went to home depot and boguht regular screws, put them in my tire, then spent 5 hours cutting little notches in each screw with a dremal. it worked good but it took way to long.

 

It took me 30 hours labor, 5 cases of beer, and alot of loud music to keep me up

 

Ask Thehate from arctic attack. He was doing watchtowers on the ice.

Get "cold cutter gold screws" 1/2 to 3/4 inch and put then in I tryed the slime did not work for **** so I lined the inside of the tire and put a tube in it {on the rear} and just ran the front flat....I have 1200 in the rear and 500 in the front{ but that is on a bike you need less on a ATV}........s-h-i-t is fun as hell...........

 

The screws should seal themselves in if you have a softer ply tire, no need for liners and tubes or slime

 

and if you do it. DO not drive on any tar what so ever. They wear down faster then then your skin dragging on tar at 100 mph

 

Yeah get a peice of carpet and some string and cut the carpet length to the same as the circumfrence of the tires then punch holes in the ends and lace string through them, it will make a nice little protector around the screws, otherwise get some plywood in the back of your truck if that's were you're hauling it
