old thread but worth a look
I'm not a master fabricator/welder or anything but I made my own pretty easily outta some 1/4" steel plate (seems to be holding up good been on there 6 mos.). Find a design you like and copy it-there's very little work involved.

Re: 12bars
I modded my front and rear bars..... I also believe that I have the best nerf bars made for the ex400.... Im a fatty , and I can walk all over them even out at the edges.... I'm getting ready to do some kind of mod to the handle bars also..... I want to be able to walk all over this thing (like a monkey) from front to rear and side to side !

Re: 12bars
The first thing you should do to your YFX is cut the sub frame in half and pound rebar down both sides of it then find someone that knows how to operate a tig welder and weld the two halfes back together with the steel rebar inside. Then worry about getting a stronger 12 bar.
The easieast one to make that I would sugest is the Angle Iron/ w/flat stock one. Take two lengths of angle iron drill your holes in about the middle of them so you have just as much angle iron bent over the subfame going down as you do sticking out the back. Bolt them on and weld a peice of flat stock on the back of them. This will make a durable long lasting 12 bar. If you want you can come up with some differnt alloys to put on the back of the flat stock to make it spark better.
I would also recomend grinding off the sharp edges

Re: 12bars
kutz , that's a great Idea....especially for alum rear bar.... I'm even gonna keep it in mind for when my stock subframe with the Light duty stuff i welded on gets BONKED or somethin' :YEAH If I ever have to re-do it , Im adding an insert like that.....
what other good ideas you got that you're holdin' out on ? j/k

Re: 12bars
I can't let all my secretes out.
One thing that every stunter should invest in is a tire pressure equalizer though. Get an airhose from walmart or where ever you can find the cheapest one. I find that those yellow ones that are all curled up and made out of plastic work the best. Then buy two valve stem clip on air chucks and clip them on to each tire, make sure to get the ones that don't have valves on them. And wa-la exact equal tire presures for straight tracking
