shifting in a wheelie?

got to practice a whole 5 hours over the weekend

was great

had a little trouble on the wheelie though, i was practicing pulling it up in first then shifting to second, then third, then fourth, no problem but then i would try to slow it down and then shift back to third, to second then to first, how are you guys at that

Re: shifting in a wheelie?

Pretty smooth, if i'm rolling a long wheelie and shifting into 3-5 gear/slowing up and down shifting, i refer to coast in that situation. Rock it back catch it with the brake and ride it out while down shifting!!

Re: shifting in a wheelie?

The only time I've realy downshifted is when I scrape and go past 12 coasting and past the balance point & slow way down and I haven't Had to do it much sooooooooo there's something I guess I can work on too.

Re: shifting in a wheelie?

all about hugging the balance point... a lil below it to accel, a lil above it to decel. I think about anyone that is comfortable with the balance point on their quad can learn to acel thru the gears, even decel and downshift eventualy. I was able to start from basicly a stand still, acel thru 5th geqar, and slo back down to about nothing, then take off again, but i didnt ownshift all that well... i would usually just ride the clutch a lil in second gear to do the second take off... oops... lol...
