Street bike motor in raptor

I am trying to fit a r1 or a gsxr 750 motor in a raptor, has anyone done this. I am just trying to get some ideas about cutting and welding the frame. Thanks any comments or pic's would be helpful.

I have to cut and weld the frame, atleast for the r1 i need to extend the frame a good foot and make it about a foot wider, I am going to try a gsxr 750 motor soon, hopefully that motor is smaller and i won't have to cut and weld as much.

Why don't you try a snowmobile motor, only 2 or 3 cylinders and alot smaller and cheaper, you will have to adjust the jets but thats it

Snowmobile engines...?!?!? That can be done, but not a good idea...at all. those things run very very hot in the winter! with liquid coolinig and everything. You put one of those into a fourwheeler thats ridden in the summertime and it will overheat so fast you wouldn't beleive it. For some ideas you might want to look around over at ATVConnection forums, people there have done it.

They only overheat because the radiators are on the bottom of the foot rests and in the tunnel, if you put a front mount on with a fan i'm shure it would run fine... cause whats the difference: high heat Sparkplug, bigger jettings, and the cooling system

But I do agree with you that was a stupid idea it would have to be automatic then

Well...they do work when you put them in there, but we did it with a 440 into a go cart...and holy crap is it fast. It will burn the tires until it shifts, but we can't ride it for more then about 5 minutes at a time. Becasue it gets so hot, the exhaust starts glowing red and it starts to slow down like its about to overheat. i don't think i would really want to go through all the trouble into putting one of those big beasts into a raptor frame...stick with the R1 or the 750...much better. And personaly, if you think about it, if you put a sled engine into a fourwheeler, i doubt it would have enough torqe to get it goin fast quickly. Yes, it would also have to be an automatic too...which i think would suck.
