400EX Transmissions

Took my 400EX out in the snow for some fun and smoked the tranny. It wont even go into gear and makes nasty noises....... Anyone else have any problems with these.

Mine kept going into like a Neutral & sounded like a fork in a blender. sounded nasty, but my **** still moves. Felt like the chain was skipping over my sprockets - but i know it wasn't. My **** is on its way out for sure. I give it another few weeks.

be F'n expensive to rebuild it. ne one had to do it yet?

Sounds like you bent a shift fork or something internal. The raptor is famous for bending their tranny internals not the 400 but same scenerio sounds like.

I had a similar problem and then the case just blew open, the guy at the honda dealer said that he never seen anything like that before but it looked like something took a bite out of the case. . . Make sure that you have a warranty

OUCH

I got the bad news from honda today, The said everything inside the trans is in little pieces. I even managed to destroy the output shaft and the case.....oops. They had to order $1500 in parts and will take about 3 weeks to get the parts shipped (some on backorder) and back in the quad. Looks life i'll be riding the little ATC70 for a while, maybe I can break that too....
