Broke off wheel stud!

Ahhh this sucks so bad, I have broken a wheel-stud off the front hub of my Z250 mounting my new tires. What can I do about it? Do they have to be pressed out or what has anyone ever broken one before?

Well thats what I get for wanting it tight, Man I'm a retard I doubted it would break, You think its safe to ride on 3 for a while as long as I dont jump? there is still a little hanging out its flush with the rim.

Re: Broke off wheel stud!

i broke the ones on my rear tires.. all of them.. LOOOOONNNNG story, dont ask.. but, i was able to get new ones at my local NAPA store.. I think 12mm x 1.25 if im not mistaken, a buck or two a piece, and i bought lug nuts that had a closed end, kinda just like car ones.. looks way pimper..lol..
Good Luck!
Oh, and they just pound out with a hammer.. then slide the new ones in and tighten a nut on them until they pull in all the way.. they are splined, so once they are in there a little, they wont spin.. i think i started mine in with a hammer, and tightened them BY HAND the rest of the way...lol.. try not to break the new ones...lol

Re: Broke off wheel stud!

Someone gave me a neat idea to get them out, Pretty much just take the hub off, put it in a table vice and on the back side put a socket over the stud...crank the vice and the stud will slip into the socket and pop out, I'm gonna use that method I would hate to mess up the hub. Btw anyone know if lonestar hubs for a Z400 will fit a Z250? The bolt patterns are the same I dont know about the brakes and chit.

Re: Broke off wheel stud!

I just dont want to bend the rim jumping, or tear up the hub. Could I just run a bolt through there with a nut or would that waller out the hole in the rim? I could care less about the hub I'm replacing the entire thing soon.

Re: Broke off wheel stud!

U can run a bolt through it... thats how some of the spacers work... but if you go to napa, they will prolly have it right in stock.. i believe it is 12mm x 1.25 if im not mistaken... but have them find u there book of wheel studs, it has pics in it, and match it up and see if they got it.. it is a stocking part, but maybee theyll have to order it from the w.h. or another store...and your right, suzuki does not sell the lug studs seperatly.. they wanna sell you a whole hub... *rolleyes* another way to make an extra buck or two..lol.. Good Luck, and if u need any help tracking down the studs, let me know.. ill see if i can locate a pn# 4 ya...
