12 bars....

I know, I know... it's been posted numerous times before. But I'm putting a 12 bar on my EX this weekend... finally, and I'm just wonder if you guys cut off the old grab bar and welded something up in it's place, or ground the stock bar flat and welded on a plate... like Tiller did. What's better in you opinion and why?

Re: 12 bars....

My opinion: Cut off stock grab bar and pound some threaded rod into the frame. Weld the rod to the frame to secure it in place and then scrape rod on theroad to get the angle. Then weld a plate onto the rod. This setup will stiffen your sub frame so it doesnt bend.

Great tip! Thanks for the input. But do you think plates scrape better than a round bar?

BTW... Bar tricks are gay, but my bar is almost gone because of too many screw ups putting the quad on it's ***.

Re: 12 bars....

BTW your gay. Round or flat is up to you. I use flat because I made my plate replaceable.

Re: 12 bars....

How does my name always manage to get brought up????

Maybe if you look around on the net you can find someone with a bent subframe (bent at the grab bar portion), and you can hack it off and do the mod to that one....that way you will still have your stock one to put back on when you decide you want to sell your quad.

maybe ebay or exriders has something.....

Ps.... 12' bars are for girls!

Re: 12 bars....

well if ur bar and subframe are one piece, like my kfx, then u need to reinforce it no matter what, plus it gets boring doing highspeed stuff, so now its time to slow it down. i got my 12 bar put on today for 10 bucks! w00t! tx ryan, and its holdin up well, haha i didnt 12 it yet, but im definately gunna work on it. anyways, i reinforced it and all so it should work good. :YEAH
