I almost bought a bike today
Ok, so here's the deal. I go w/my friend Jess out of town cuz his parents want another harley.....keep reading lol. So I'm at Heartland Harley Davidson wearing a Team XMX shirt, I dont think anyone caught on. I spot a Buell out front that looks tiny enough for me. I sit on it and by God i can hold it up fine and have both of my feet planted firmly on the ground. It's a 2001 Buell Blast! 500cc one owner, 500 miles $3800. The only reason why I wanted it is because i'm 5'3" and I felt comfortable on this bike. I called WETPAVEMENT and told him the news, he says "why would you buy a buell?" my reply: cuz it's just my size. I'm a tiny person barely 5'3" and 105lbs. Now I'm sure there has to be some female riders out there that are smaller than me and have bikes. I'd love to get one so bad but I'm kind of discouraged because I'm tiny. I was once described as a pocket sized barbie......I didn't really know how to take that. Any suggestions?

now as far as the real advice..................wtf u doin hangin out with wetpavement..............hes a fruitcake..............oh and where the hell that fruitcake been?
thanx for the advice. one of my friends said he would sell me his 250 ninja but it's been through so much **** that i'd have to be an idiot to buy it. But i was debating on getting a 500 ninja anyway since they are smaller bikes. I'm definitly going to keep looking around. I am going to get my motorcycle license, I know that for sure. Even though I dont have a bike at least i'll legally be able to ride other people's lol. I asked my friend w/the 250 if i could his bike but then he reminded me that it is far from street legal considering it doesn't have mirrors, turn signals and for a tail light he spray painted masking tape red. I heard a dealership here has loaner bikes for **** like that so i'm gonna check that out. Oh, and to answer your question about wetpavement, his internet is disconnected so that's where he's been and also, i'm hanging out w/him cuz i'm dating him. lol. And to Krazy: I know they suck but like i said, it just felt right when i sat on it

i did the same thing when i first saw the buell. i was like this bike is perfect size for me. then the boys came up to me and said step away from the buell, buells suck. so i went and checked out other bikes trying to get a feel for one. i was going to get a 250 ninja, but will grow out of it too fast. i still havent found mine yet, it takes time.
like the other guys said go on different bikes and get the feel for them. i am sure you will find one that fits you, and if you have a guy helping you, then they can tell you which bike would be a good bike to purchase.

I am 5'3" and I ride a 900RR have not dropped the suspension either. I got a little more than my toes to touch the ground, I wear shoes that give me at least 1 - 2 inches. Buy shoes that give you height!
haha i could just see myself wearing some huge shitkickers and still not being able to hold the bike up, haha i have the shortest legs imaginable and everyone would get a kick out of me trying to hold that bike up. if i do get a bike like that, i'll post a pick of me having a hard time handling it lol. all the guys that i hang out w/keep saying "we need female rider" and all i say is "just give me time boys, i'll be right next to ya"

You can drop the suspension on the bike, even though I heard that messes with the handling and such of the bike. Just don't want to see you buy a 250 or a 500 and outgrow it. You may not, but what if you do and then you have to try to unload it. I thought I was going to have a problem unloading my FZR600 but a newbie boy saw it, wanted it and loves it. I got lucky and the kid got a deal too, it was a sweet bike. I miss my Yamaha
yeah don't buy a buell!!
I had a bit of the same probably as you. Well my main thing is that i was WEAK AS HELL. I'm 5' 9" and ~115lbs now. I have long *** legs so height wasn't a probably. Get something that fits comfortably for you. Most say you will outgrow a 250 in no time. But everyone has to start somewhere. Give it a shot and see how you like it. If not, then resell it and get something different.

Hey Jen- I have the same prob as u, I'm 5'4 and 115lbs. I would agree on the gixx 600, because I've riden my mans and even though my feet can't quite touch the ground, it is a pretty comfortable bike. It is a bit heavy, but thats just cuz I'm a weakling! But if your used to balancing, it isn't so bad. Good luck in finding a bike. And u and wetpav should bring ur asses to Des Moines and ride with us!

Try the harley or try a gixx600, i learned on that one and i agree with angie on that like I said before, it kinda heavy but its perfect, and buy a pair of Sketcher boots, I am on my fourth pair and you can still shift fine with them on and it adds those extra few inches... have fun though and like we all said before just STAY AWAY FROM THE BUELL!!
