Re: Ladies, lets see your ride

If you do well in the MSF a 500 would be great starter bike I LOVE the new GS500's, if you come out of it feeling not so confident and still a little sketchy on your skill's stick with the 250's.

I'd just go with the 600 you'll be happier in the long run, hell you can learn on a 1300 if you wanted to, just have to give yourself the right amount of time to get comfy with it.

Re: Ladies, lets see your ride

Wow, please never give riding advice again... Can you imagine what an MSF course would look like if we ran it on 600-1300cc bike's?? Let's just say my FF/EMT certification would REALLY come in handy. If you start small you will be happier in the long run, I speak from a REAL experience with it, and you want to come out of this learning experience with you and the bike in one piece.

I didn't say you should teach the ******* course with 600-1300 cc bikes, but once you understand the basics, and have taken the course on a 250, it doesn't matter what freakin size you get. I started with a 900, I know other that have started with larger bikes. Read what someone said before you respond

The MSF doesn't teach you everything and people still pass the course with a twitchy hand, it's the basic's and you need more than that to ride on the street. That's great that you know people that have started big, but that point is neither here nor there. I'm not going to get in an argurement about this, I teach the course every weekend and there is a BIG difference between the people who graduate and buy a big bike and those who graduate and start small. I'm usually reading about the one's who started too big in the paper w/ in a month after they have taken the course...

anyone "COULD", as in - it is possible, learn on any size bike!! You're just obviously one of those people who start REALLY slow and worry about boo boos!! Whatever saying anything more would be like arguing with an over protective mother!!

Re: Ladies, lets see your ride

No I started too big and ended up being airlifted to Halifax hospital with a broken back, 3rd degrees burns on 1/4 of my back from the bike flipping on top of me and road rash to the bone. 3 skin graph's and 1 year of physical rehab and here I am. Like I said I know b/c I have REAL experience with starting to big. Atleast I turned the experience into something positive, most people don't live through it for it to benefit them.

well that sucks, I guess I was lucky, but to be honest I'm always lucky!! I never took the course, started big, drive like a mad man, and never had any injuries like that.

But at the same time I also stated that you need to take you time and get comfy, maybe you missed that part.

Re: Ladies, lets see your ride

Honestly I think we make this sport look easier than it is, I mean yeah now I teach the MSF and ride track, but in the beginning all my guy friend's were like just buy a 600 you'll get bored other wise and taking the MSF was the only experience I had at the time...

Holy god you're not kidding! It's my buddies right now, he was on it when we went to bike week, and when I was riding next to him I had to switch sides! I couldn't be on his right with no helmet....
exhaust = bad
paint = bad
fake carbon fiber levers = bad
cheap bike = GOOD!
