PROJECT: 91 YZ250 DOT Legal SM Stuntbike
Ok guys. Im new to the site and am taking on a 91 YZ250 SM project that will be street legal.
Here is what she looks like so far.
and here is the day i bought it... $600 bucks with new motor(top and bottom)
The thing im wondering is if there are any 17 - 18 in wheels off streetbikes that will fit my axles. Im ordering the acerbid front SM fender and the actual 250 shrouds as it came with 125 shrouds(tank came off a 125 cause the old one was stripped where the shrouds bolted up). And an IMS tank will go on over the winter.
I am also doing lighting (acerbid cyclops headlight and UFO tail light both DOT aproved) and i am going to be getting a lighting coil for a 91 WR250 since they are the same bikes. $64 bucks here...
http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/erol.html#1409X0 -- Just coil($64)
http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/erol.html#6834X0 -- Complete stator($145)
Im also making my own sliders out of skateboard wheels. Any other tips/tricks/info would be great. Right now im just looking for a cheap build as i have a 2000 YZ426F that i will be doin soon.
I own and work at a welding shop so i have access to equipment to make spacers for the wheels and possibly a brake caliper relocation bracket if needed.

well here is an update. im waiting for tires and lights... Did some body trimming and i think it looks pretty cool. Didnt like the look of the huge numberplates and i wont be using them on this bike really since its going to be a street tard and im going to do stunt riding with it. I also cut the left side of the airbox off and drilled some holes in the side panel.
here are the pics, let me know what you think....

well here it is after another night of playin around with the stock plastics... Cut the front fender down, and drilled it out for cooling... not the best and i may have cut it a little small(hard to tell until i get my 17's) let me know what you think of the fender...
