Re: thinking of getting sm ktm or drz400sm

Do a few SM trackdays and youll see most KTMs spend more time being wrenched on instead of actually being on the track.

DRZ is a dog out the box but not bad after ditching the emission ****, 3x3 mod, re-jet and full yosh pipe. Another 5 bills will get you a fcr carb and youre pretty much set. I beat the crap out of mine daily and no probs at all.

Really depends on what you want one for

LC4 wont need much wrench time at all, i can go 2500 miles no oil change or valve adjustment, LC4 will have much better power stock than the drz-400, i like mine wheelies good, probobly weighs around the same as the drz, i like the lc4 i think you would be happy with ethier but personally i would take the lc4 over the drz

Re: thinking of getting sm ktm or drz400sm

the lc4 isnt like a race model it has a bigger oil capacity than other ktms making it better for on road use. Im guessing its a 640 if it is a 2002, 640 actually has 625cc, running around 45hp stock, once you get all un restricted you can have it to 50 hp no problom same upgrades as the drz probobly i went with the FCR myself and it helped a ton. I love my lc4 havent really had many probloms. Id head over to Ktmtalk.com they could tell you all of what you want to know.

Its because the drz cost a lot less than the aprilia i mean what would you rather buy to fool around on, aprilia is a beast and would be tons of fun but who wants to take the chance of wrecking it fooling around

If you seen him ride you'd know cost has nothing to do with it. The drz is just that much more fun on the streets.

yeah the huskys are badass i looked at one a few weeks ago, thats not too bad, considering they are streetlegal, makes as much hp as the 640.

Re: thinking of getting sm ktm or drz400sm

I've got an 06 DRZ 400SM and I love it. I put a FMF on it and it runs pretty good. I'm at about 5000 ft. so it has even less power, I'm guessing around 30 horse. The brakes are killer and the bike is very fun. I've only got about 800 miles on it, but it's problem free so far and I ride it hard often.

I just bought an Arilia SXV 550 and have ridden the DRZ plenty of times. You're serious about the post? That's like saying you'd have more fun on a Hoda Civic that on 911 Turbo.

I'm dead serious. He hasnt even put on 100 miles on the aprilia. Sure, looks really cool and fast from light to light, but he likes the DRZ better for crowded, inner-city street jumps and shananagens. Not to mention the aprilias and huskys cant compete with the DRZ's handling. Plus, oil changes every couple of rides takes away from alot of riding time.

btw, how do you like that rearbrake on the aprilia?

Can't compete with the DRZ's handling? You're serious?
