Im about to pick up a 250f for a new little street beater , a friend told me that he read somewhere you can get the rims off the old honda f2/f3 and some how rim them on your motard [ie no spokes, no tubes]

I was just wondering if this is true ?
How much work and modifications is involved [parts needed to buy etc]?
Will it work on a 250f?

i havent seen it on a 250f but they do fit on other honda's i have seen them on xr600's and stuff, ask over at www.supermotojunkie.com if its been done someone there will know for sure.

I think the CBR400 wheels are what you're refering to. The F2/3 front rim might work, but the rear I think is too wide. They run 160's right? 170 & 180 is definately too wide.

I've pics of European guys with XR400's running CBR400 wheels. If you're looking to get around the spending $$ for wheels I don't think you can. Laced wheels or bling bling Marchesini wheels are most likley much stronger than streetbike wheels. Plus, you can use your stock axel/spacers/rotor/caliper and dont have to go find someone to make an axel, spacers, & caliper bracket. I'm sure getting all that done isn't cheap.

You really *dont* have to buy 17" rims. I think alot of that is monkey see monkey do, they look cool etc. There are tires for stock 21/19" rims. They even have a SuperStock class for bikes with stock rims.

well here is what i think is the cheapest way, Buy 17 Inch rims and lace them to your stock hubs that can be done for 500-600$ compared to the 1000 for a full set or what ever
