Re: SuperMoto Vid
Man that video is old.
Note how Dannii Muller (the little guy doing the 12's) is on a 426.
That makes this video over 3 years old now. Still worth watching though.
This video is worth watching to see a bit of Euro racing. (More crashing than racing though)
Funny to watch the French guy with his head stuck in the Husaberg.
Mikie, you got any rims for your WR yet??

Re: SuperMoto Vid
I'm looking to buy a motard. They race down the road from my house. I was looking at a 05 YZ 250 F with the wheels and all. They guy wants like 6 grand for it all. I can get a KTM SMR 450 for 6500 that's a 06 and a 560 for 7000.

Re: SuperMoto Vid
Splash, don't buy a racebike for stunting unless you like throwing money at new engines.
You'd be better off with a stocker.
It'd probably be cheaper to buy a dirtbike, and rims separately.

Re: SuperMoto Vid
Goodluck - Whats the deal on adjusting valves and motor maintenance? I can hear some cam chain sounds (or what I believe to be) comming from the right side. Have you ever done yours?

The motors in 4-stroke dirtbikes are generally noisy as the piston is huge compared to a 600cc four.
You have to keep an eye on the valve clearances, checking them every couple of thousand miles or so isn't a bad idea. They'll probably never go out of adjustment though, especially on the 400's with their steel valves.
If the cam chain's never been replaced in your bike, it might be a good idea to get it done, as they can stretch a small amount, although i've never heard of anyone having one let go.
A friend of mine had his WR400F from new, and thrashed it on the dirt, and as a supermoto for 6 years before selling it to another friend of mine.
It's only ever had regular oil changes, and valve clearance checks, and still runs really sweetly.
My 426 had a new cam chain every 6 months, and a rebuild every year, as the previous owner was really **** about maintenance, but the engine internals hardly used to show any signs of wear. The bike was always thrashed hard, and raced, and never had any problems.
If looked after, they seem to last forever.

A standard 450 is a much safer bet.
The enduro versions are better than the MX versions as they have more suitable gear ratios, and more tractable engines, so they're more suitable for stunting. They have slightly different engine internals for more reliability too.
