600rr a Work in Progress
600rr a Work in Progress
Well, decided to get some updated pictures of it. I waited for all the paint to dry and pulled it in the kitchen to wax it tonight since it was nippley **** cold out. I got a couple pictures after waxing it. Still waiting on something for the headlights. I have not decided what exactly I am going to do since I don't have an upper and don't really want to eliminate the gauges. I will figure out something though.
Custom made tygershark cage is on the way. After talking it over with the owner and fabricator I decided on the Apex Predator. They seem to think that since it is made of thicker steel rods than the tri-rod cage it is stronger. They even threw in some custom design work on the cage for me after all my patience waiting for them to re-open shop.
So here are the pictures as it sits.
Any thoughts or ideas?

These people make guage brackets but they dont show the RR. They have em for the F4i and the woman I spoke to was very nice and willing to work with you.

Also, I know someone selling Vortex knockoff clip ons for $100 shipped if you want em. Good luck.

Thanks for the bracket idea. I might be able to make something if I don't find one. As for the clip ons, those are actually vortex clip ons that are on the bike now. Once I get the cage on I am going to roll out to the spot and see if D and Chad 9 have any ideas. They have made some sick bikes in the past.

mike, the first thing i would recommend is flipping your clipons upside down. start getting used to it now, it will hurt your wrist for a few days but you will love it when you get used to it.
dont try to learn slow wheelies w/out a 12 bar, round or flat, get one or you will have a minty tail destroyed.
keep your gauges on the bike if you want, we can find a place to mount them where they wont look stupid. and definately leave your upper off, you will regret it if you leave it on.
See if www.stuntex.com makes a oil pickup for it. if they do get one, it will only help. and they're cheap.
let's see what else, you have one of the most bullet proof cages coming, a subcage, you have a good start.
Do some research on the stock rearsets, your a big guy. make sure they're strong.
get a APE cam chain tensioner. they're cheap too.
tip over sensor mod?
ez pull?
try to do some research here to see the pros and cons on the 600rr
any questions, i am just a phone call away

I have done the idle mod, the tip over mod. Installed a 900RR idle adjustment cable in the stock throttle stop location. I can now adjust the idle to around 4500 or below.
Right now it has vortex rear sets. Not sure how easy the stockers break...was considering selling the vortex ones and replacing them with stockers...is that a bad idea?
Any recommendations on where to buy the APE cam adjuster? I have found a couple places online that carry them, but not any shops I am familiar with. Never heard of them, so this is new to me. Are they reasonably easy to install?
Selling the stock headlight. It mainly mounts to the upper and seems like it would probably cause the upper to break like what happened on my 900rr. I got an upper for it, but may hold off for now on installing it. But I do want to get some form of lights on it.
As for the gauge...I am going to look into trying to bend the stock mount up and out of the way. If that does not work, I may try to just make something to mount it to. I am going to try to pick up another welder here in the next month or so and make a 12 bar I guess. I don't like any of the ones I have seen, but I don't want to be replacing the exhaust can every couple months, lol.
Re: 600rr a Work in Progress
i would keep the good rear sets but cut the pegs so they don't hit the gruond when the bike is on it's side that way you won't break the expensive rear sets

ohh yeah, it's an 04 gsrx 600 if you need a reminder.
