yeah, FACK EM! this n.e. weather sucks sooo bad. one year you go to buy one and there is 2 inch's of snow. so you sell it, and then next year it snows 4 feet!

Re: anyone know anything about snowmobiles?

I'd go larger than a 600... 900 or 1000 is where it's at. You'll get bored with a smaller one after one season. If your friends have them, ride one and see if you like it first. I bought one when I was 17. Like Chose said, around here they suck. But I can understand it in NH or Maine. I'd rather buy another quad myself, it's a year round beast and easier to maintain. Those snowmobile tracks and skis are expensive. Now you can buy metal tracks and skis with wheels so you can ride them year round without snow, but again, very pricey.

Re: anyone know anything about snowmobiles?

600 if your going to trail ride, bigger if your going to be on the lake. A lot of the big machines get bulky in the corners. A 600 will be plenty fast and easier to maneuver. I rode an 800 rev last year and that was the best handling sled I've ever ridden even though it was big. Although the 600 HO would probably be even better. If you want the fastest buy an F7.

Re: anyone know anything about snowmobiles?

how much are you looking to spend? that's the big question because that kinda norrows down the field. I ride an Arctic Cat F7 and I reccommend getting a newer sled especially if it's your first sled that way there's less chance of problems. A 600 is plenty fast and also a great sled to start on...I know lots of guys that ride 600's and they're able to keep up with anyone in the trails. Most 600's go about 100 or so the 700's and the 800's go about 110-115 so there's no a whole lot of difference in top end. If you're riding trails you want something with good suspention like an Ski-Doo MXZ a Polaris Edge or an Arctic Cat either ZR 600 or F6. One of my friends has an 01 MXZ 600 for sale right now has about 3100 miles on it excellent condition studded track, new carbides and back shock, he also has some gear to go with it a cover and it's already had it's pre season tune up, for 4,000

my first sled (well i had a 72 ski-doo Olympic before this) was a Phazer...i used to bend monotubes like they were going out of style..oh wait they were out of style..stupid yamaha ...but the best sled i ever had was an Polaris Indy 400...board 30 over ported shaved head...clutched xcr440 pipe...i'd dust most sleds on the trails...and only modified 600's could beat me in the drags..everyone thought i had put a 600 motor in it..it was funny
