Erroneous. You can only write off the cost of any winning tickets for which income is reported.

I say **** the same way you do. I'm just a normal guy, no special powers. I may save lives, but I still put my pants on one leg at a time.

 

The one benefit that Massachusetts' law does provide is the fact that you can deduct the cost of the wager from your winnings versus Federal law where you can only deduct gambling losses (to the extent of winnings) as a miscellaneous itemized deduction subject to the 2% floor.

Just a little tid-bit of information to throw out at cocktail parties.
