Less prone to rubbing the frame. But you'll be worrying about the fender. The further you get from center the more the tire sticks out one way or the other. With a negative offset, the outside of the tire will be closer to the fender in the front and back while being further from the frame when you turn the wheel.

This is the only mention I see of the way I described it. http://www.311s.org/tech/wheels/offset.html Although I have seen a couple places where they give the formula I did while contradicting themselves by saying positive offset moves the wheel in.
