They protect the bearings from dust.....little rubber seals. You need to stop claiming to know a lot about working on bikes.

he had that on susa, that wasnt undercover

Usually black. They are rubbery and normally help hold the bearing in the wheel.

If you can't figure out how to install wheel bearing you need to start riding the shortbus. The steering stem bearings are 10x more complicated and those are simple if you have the right tools.

Oh. Ok. I should have you order up the 954 front wheel kit right now. I wonder how much more the ceramic bearings are. Not that they will make one bit of difference on the bike for me.
