I thought the same thing when I did that job a billion times but by the end of NY you end up using all that ****......so keep doing it and don't send anyone any of that stuff......

 

This is a doctor building a bullet proof landcruiser in his spare time. This is his first build. Learning as he goes. It's really quite impressive.

 

 

the top brace is for support when he drops off a ledge and to mount the upper control arms to. The front part is that big because he plans to run full hydro steering. A double ended hydraulic ram will bolt in there, which requires tons of bracing. I also see a spot to hook up a "suck down" winch there, those are becoming popular with the rock crawlers lately.

Speaking of weight, the competitive guys actually half fill their tires with water to lower their COG.
