The new ones get **** mileage because of emissions. The 7.3 was the last motor with real mpg capabilities.

You don't need to add in protein shakes (or bars). Stick with whole food, it's healthier. Really the only need for protein shakes is if you are really doing lots of weight training and are heavier and can't get enough protein through solid meals.
If you want, type what you are consuming in an average day. Are you going out of your way to get more fiber? Too much will keep you full for too long and actually inhibit maximum nutrient absorption.
Easiest way to get more calories to stay healthy without eating crap is to get the good fats. Use butter (real natural butter) on foods, olive oil, coconut oil, coconut milk (anything coconut is really good to use - it's fats are medium chain tryglicerides which get used for energy), almonds, pistachios, cashews, macadamia nuts are all good ways to get some extra healthy calories. The good nuts have healthy fats and pack quite a few calories and you only need a few handfuls.
Instead of forcing down a bunch of oatmeal (all carbs even though they are good carbs) maybe try some greek yogurt (don't get low fat) with berries and ground flax seed. A few eggs and some bacon is a great breakfast too. I try to have bacon twice a week, and I eat eggs almost every morning.
Are you getting enough meat in your diet? (insert joke about mikes **** here)
my average daily diet..... breakfast oatmeal occasionally, but usually just coffee and a honey whole wheat everything bagel with ff cream cheese. lunch, a turkey sandwich (i use low fat mayo, spicy mustard, and those arnold select fiber thin bread things). dinner, whatever everyone else is eating, but depending on what we're eating i'll eat a smaller amount like with raviolis, fried stuff, etc. if we're eating grilled chicken, veggies and stuff like that i eat a good sized portion. for snacks, i eat a handful of almonds, pistachios, and bread & butter pickle spears with turkey wrapped around it. i eat a fiber once a day usually as well. i drink tons of water and with dinner i drink a soda. once in a while throughout the day i'll drink a mountain dew if i feel like i need some energy.

well you are doing pretty good there ... way to go
if i was critiquing what you typed out I would say try to ditch some of the carbs like the bagel and opt for some eggs like i mentioned. just looks like you need to squeeze in another light meal or like I said add stuff like butter, olive oil, coconut products ... and skip the pops - you are already doing great keeping them out - no need to give your body the sugar shock by occasionally adding them back in.

i see absolutely no reason for the cop to have shot him. he wasn't making a move or anything. he was just sitting there. he probably won't get much time if convicted though, and your friend is stuck with paralysis for the rest of his life. hopefully a lawsuit can set him straight. i'd probably want to put a hit on the cop while in jail if he made it so i couldn't use my legs for the rest of my life.

turbos have nothing to do with emissions.

No ****. But a re-gen to burn the soot out of a DPF does.

Also, tubos are standard on diesel trucks. Have been for years.

And the turbos aren't the reason for the **** mileage of the newer diesels. The 7.3L is turbo charged as well. The emission standards are what is killing fuel economy.

All our new dump trucks have regen systems and it sucks. The guys who are hauling over the road don't have an issue but the trucks that work on site have to stop working to do the regen.

that doesn't make sense. burn more fuel to protect the air quality? how is that an emission standard?

Because they don't care how much fuel is being burned, just how much pollution is created for a certain amount of fuel. There are also standards for fuel economy but as far as I know, they only apply to averages of an entire line up and may exclude vehicles over 6000 lbs.

yeah ... i am not real close with him - better friends with his older brother, lots of mutual friends though, especially in the bike scene here ... doctors told him zero chance due to the cord being completely and instantly severed ... that cop should get the same punishment in return ... the whole incident really changed the guy (understandably) completely different mentality.
