My Cat gave me an orgasm--
Re: My Cat gave me an orgasm--
Heres my radiator cage so far. The small bracket is the top part that bolts to the frame. The large curved piece sits under the radiator and will hold the weight of it. I just widened my tabs enough to fit the oem grommets and welded them on. After breakfast I'll mock these up on the bike and start measuring for the vertical pieces. Im going to use L for that instead of flat steel, for rigidity.

i dont know if that polarity switch is due to the type of wire, or the presence of shielding gas. thats what im wondering
Re: My Cat gave me an orgasm--
it came set up for flux core. i had to install a kit to use gas. the kit was pretty much just a gas solenoid and a regulator, and it said to change the polarity.

Re: My Cat gave me an orgasm--
Innershield and Outershield are brand names of Lincoln flux cored wires. The main difference between these two wires is that the Outershield wire uses shielding gas to protect the welding arc and the molten puddle from the negative effect of the air while the Innershield doesn't need any shielding gas. The shielding for this wire is produced by the flux which evaporates in the arc producing a local protection.
Because of the different chemistry and composition of the two fluxes within the two wire types the polarity has to be different to achieve/maintain arc stability. That is the main reason of different polarities for the two wire types.
