RIVERSIDE – The California Highway Patrol says it wasn't able to find or cite one person after groups of up to 500 motorcyclists tied up five Inland Empire freeways for an entire day doing stunts, riding in blocs, and seriously slowing traffic in what appeared to be a coordinated event, it was reported Sunday.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says dozens of motorists called CHP dispatchers between 9:30 and 4:30 Saturday to report that motorcyclists were blocking lanes, performing stunts and driving in slow-moving formations.
The riders had apparently gathered at the Ontario Mills shopping center, and then headed out onto at least five freeways in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The roads affected included highways 10, 15, 60, 91 and 215.
Riverside CHP officer Mike Subirous told the Press-Enterprise that the bikers popped wheelies, rode while sitting on their handlebars, stood on the gas tanks or performed other stunts while driving at speeds greater than the 65 miles per hour limit.
Other bikes blocked traffic, and persons in cars were swerving on the road to take videotapes of the stunts, motorists said.
“I was doing 65 and they passed me as if I was standing still,” motorist Judy Hecker told the Press-Enterprise.
Other drivers criticized the bikers for putting innocent people at risk. “I don't think it's cool for them to do that because I could have run over them and spilled gas all over the freeway,” said gasoline tanker driver Jack Woolsley of Riverside.
At one point the riders drove to Perris and back, a distance of about 60 miles, tying up the freeway the whole way, drivers reported.

Blocking traffic is not cool how is it possible to know if someone is rushing a loved one to the hospital or not? Keep it in the lots guys or dont block traffic thats a little much. Wouldnt it be horrible to learn later in the day when you got home from the ride that your family member died in a car trying to get through the crowd at the same time. Howd you like to know you contributed to the death of your sister or brother? Stunting on the highway will always occur, but **** blocking traffic, thats fucked.

Those huge rallies just look like 9000 squids with maybe 15 good riders and about 5 real stunters that know what they are doing. No thanks for me...
