handbrake setup with pics
here is my handbrake setup with pics:
94 900rr master cylinder with 94 900rr rear brake resevoir
94 900rr rear caliper and mount
84" Galfter SS braided brake line with a 90 degree and straight fitting
I had to move the left hand controls to the steering stem to make room, then the clutch lever has to be moved upwards a little and the master cylinder run to the left and under it. You need a longer hose to run to the resevour which is also mounted to the triple via zip tie.
The rear bracket is cut and welded to the original. This took forever because you have to grind some off, re-fit and keep doing that til it fits right, then I used the handbrake to clamp the pads to the rotor and tack welded the bracket, then removed it all and ran some strong beads of weld on it.
Bleeding it was fun. I had to take the handbrake off, turn it right side up and make sure it's full of fluid. Then on the bleeder on the caliper, i put grease around it to keep air bubbles from getting into the fitting. I also had to use a vaccuum bleeder and move the caliper and the master cylinder around to get all the air bubbles out.
here are the pictures, ask any questions.

Re: handbrake setup with pics
wow...thats impressive. so you have the rear lever mounted under the clutch? So do you not have rear foot brake? Sorry, just never seen one before, only heard about em.

Re: handbrake setup with pics
is it possible to use one caliper and have both the foot brake and handbrake connected to it? Perhaps the lines could be connected to the caliper with a t fitting so you didn't have to go through the trouble of mounting a second caliper?

and if the brake is made so you can use your thumb it'll be in the way when you turn left, the lever will hit the frame and junk. also the lever sticks out too far. You can get GP tech thumb brake, but i think taking my thumb off the clip on wouldn't give me the grip i need when doing slow high chairs and spreaders.

Very nicely done
If I ever got into that stuff, I definately got the resources to do what you did. But i'm going to go out on a limb and say I probably won't go that far

check out Darius's setup...
"figured out a cheap way to make a hand brake, I bought a $8.00 generic clutch lever and perch from the local cycle shop along with a rear brake cable from a late 70's honda xl 350 cost $18.00. I routed the cable to the rear master cylinder and welded a nut on the steel part of the brake lever and a perch for the cable off my www.freestyleingenuity.com cage so when you pull the lever it's pulls your rear brake pedal down, I'm not sure if it works as well as a hydraulic unit but it works well enough to do a 5-10 mph feet over and parking shouldnt be a problem, plus all the other hand brake tricks, slow flamingo's, spreaders etc."

Re: handbrake setup with pics
ya, that works, but this looks nicer, has better feel, and is more reliable. I wouldn't trust the cable not to break on that...iv'e broken many bmx cables and by the number of clutch cables that people break, ****.....it woudl be horrible to brake a handbrake cable while rocking something. plus the cable just doesn't feel as smooth.
it's cheap though...but he doesn't use that **** anymore. he had a hydraulic unit on his 929 at stuntwars.
