its an m-16 made by different companies, so they are under different names. i'm pretty sure that the m4 just has a smaller barrel and retractable buttstock. but i'm not too sure.

I thought that Colt Commandos were like shorter or something and more "tactical".

Re: soad's full time job in 3 years.....

basically you want the smallest possible rifle with the least amount of recoil possible....

think like this....some dude has a MP5, and you got a M4....if your both wearing body armor who do you think will have a higher chance of surviving if hit???

but than again....the MP5 is lighter and easier to handle, so he does have that as an advantage....

but if you can get that M4 down to as smal *** that Mp5, you can out gun that dude.

of course, since the Mp5 is only 9mm it won't penetrate to deep into anything, so if you've got hostages behind a wall, and you unload on that brick wall, the bullets prolly won't go threw

if you unload onto that wall with a M4 tho, they could possibly go threw and kill a hostage on the other side

yes, you can, they must have been made before the fully auto matic firearms ban that i beleive the clinton administration created.

me and brodie once talked to this dude who owned a german MP44 witch was the world's first assualt rifle.

the AK-47, M-16,etc.etc.etc. where all based on the MP44's design

the dude said he spent about 10 grand getting all the permits needed to own/fire it.

that thing rawked, no plastic, no wood, all metal, i want one

well, it's not just caliber that matters, it's also the amount of grain (or how much gun powder) the cartridge contains

see here

From the left they are: 22 Blank, 22 Short, 22 Long, 22 Long Rifle Shot, 22 Viper, 22 Long Rifle, 22 Stinger, 22 Magnum, and 22 Maximum.

as you can see, the .22 short casing doesn't contain much powder at all, it's basically a over sized BB gun that uses powder instead of air.

notice how much powder the 22 magnum and 22 maximum have, they fly at a much higher rate of speed, and thus produce ALOT of recoil and penetration on the target.

also, .22 is equal to 5.56mm, which is why the M16 fires a 5.56 (or .223 caliber) bullet.

small bullet, lots of powder=lots of penetration power

here you see a 5.56mm(or .223 caliber) cartridge next to a 7.62(or .30 caliber) from a AK-47

the AK-47 will have higher recoil because

1. it contains more powder
2. it's bullet is heavier and bigger, thus it's harder for the exploding powder to move it.

so, you could take a .45 caliber pistol, and the .357 magnum that my dad owns, and if you fired them side by side, the .357 would have WAY more noticeable recoil, because of the higher amount of powder it has.

and the same with a .44 or .50, the .50 AE pistols can easily brake bones in your hand if you don't fire them correctly.
