New MXD cage For F4i

MXD put this cage n new bar on my bike last week and i have been putting it to the test. This Cage is ROCK SOLID i have washed out lowsiding faster seat stander circles and even highsided a few too, dropping the bike straight from 12. I've dropped it over and over again, Slow and fast. NOT ONCE did it even attempt to roll onto the controls or brake any levers. With the new design you dont have to worry about smashing headers or busting oil pans. I'm lovin it :YEAH Just thought i'd share this with everyone. Contact Jeff @ MXDcages.com

Re: New MXD cage For F4i

That looks like it would put a lot more stress on the motor mounts on whatever side hits than the ones utilizing a cross brace..

Re: New MXD cage For F4i

no way man, this thing ISNT a shin buster at all. i normally cant ever ride without shin gaurds but with this thing i had nothing to worry about.
Compared to the 905 or the powers it doesnt stick out very far at all. The sliders would be the only thing to worry about but just like any cages. You get used to that and eventually dont have that problem. I could seriously sit on my bike and slide my shins forward and they will just run along side of the cage. Im doing shin buster trix too like merk step jump to the tank, spreaders.. the old cages are still available by the way

all the stress is on the motor mounts whether there is a cross brace or not

But it seems with a brace the impact would be dispursed to the mounts on the other side as well.

Not if it hits directly on the slider first (especially with a long curved loop like on the FI cage). That nice long loop on the FI cage can be effective if it is the first thing to hit. It can flex and absorb the impact by increasing the distance that the bike decelerates. The bars that cross from side to side also help keep the main mounts from bending but once again with a large round loop they become less effective.
