Well... I hit the bar
Well... I hit the bar
Yep. After a whole summer of a minty black 12 bar... it's finally showing some shiny steel! :D
That's the good news. The bad news? My leg and arm are also now showing some nice bloody red scrapes. And my shift lever is gone.
Near as I can figure, I hit it pretty quick, and pretty light. I was already on the brake hard before it got there, and I think I killed all my momentum. About the time I was hitting the bar, I also felt like I was tipping sideways. In a panic, I grabbed a little to much... of um everything? Front end slammed down, and it was still in gear, clutch out, giving it gas, and hard on both brakes. The front end was washing out and I was still on the gas.
and the front brake
If I had let off the front brake, I probably would have been OK...
Oh well. A step in the right direction I suppose.
Oh, and of course, in classic DetroitStyle fashion... I did it in front of a group of people in ghetto Detroit. A few started to walk my way, but I just picked it up, reached down and wiggled it into first, and wheelied off into the sunset. :YEAH
anybody have a shift lever?

BTW, what are those strings on either side of your torso? Oh, nevermind...your arms...
Re: Well... I hit the bar
congrats on the first scrape (well, scrapes)!!!! Its all down hill from here. You will be beating on your windscreen due to frustration while trying to learn a seemingly impossible trick (circles)....oh, wait-that's me. You can still have the shift lever, but now that you've scraped, you won't take your bike out of first gear for at least a month anyway.
Re: Well... I hit the bar
LOL at the responses!
First of all, I'm still miles away from where I want to be. It was not a slow wheelie, controlled scrape. It was wacking the bar, and hoping I caught the brake in time. But hopefully it helps to get me over the hump
I definitely will NOT set me back....
PS. I'm thinking about gearing it. Does that make me a cheater?
