The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

My friend Mogwai got a new truck...I got to go for a ride in it today...It has no ashtrays....What! No ashtray! Believe it ladies and gentlemen!

Does anyone else think that is f**ked up?

Some manufactures consider those options now and you have to pay extra...I sold my ashtray from my 00 explorer sport to a guy i work with who's 04 didnt come with one and they wanted over $200 for it...bunch of scammers now.....

Re: The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

Usually there is a cup with a lid in those things. If it is missing i would bring it up with the Dealer. I can't think of a vehicle that we make at GM anymore that actually has an ash tray in the dash. O how times change.

Re: The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

So what you're telling me is that no new cars or trucks have ashtrays? This is just going way too far. First, I can't smoke in fast food restaurants, then I can't smoke in any restaurants that don't sell alcohol, then I have to smoke in designated area's at work (not closer than 20 feet from any door), and now I can't even smoke in my own truck?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Re: The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

These are the reasons that I made this thread... exactly we can't smoke anywhere and if I get a new f-ing car or truck I don't think I should have to pay for my ashtray... This is sooooooo stupid, $200 is re-god-damn-dick-u-lous!

Suddenly smoking in America is like listening to the radio in **** Germany!

I respect those who do not smoke but don't punish those of us who do more...arn't the taxes we pay enough?

Re: The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

LOL You all are killing me. They don't install the ashtray in the dash. There is however in every vehicle I seen a little cup with a lid that is easy to remove for the smokers. I believe this is what they are calling the ashtray these days. That is why I said I would approach my dealer about not having one. I think the reasoning behind this is easier to remove and clean. I can bring it up with some of the design engineers if you would like but I imagine is goes much higher in the food chain then them. LOL

Damn that smoking thinig si an expensive habit and that is because of our goverment mostly. Glad I don't have it.

Re: The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

O.K. but if I had a little cup where am I supposed to put it? Am I supposed to sacrifice one of my cup holders?

Not that I've ever used an ashtray in any of my trucks, they make it stink, I like the window method.

Re: The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

Get one of those bean bag ashtrays from K-mart. You know they set where ever you put em usually. My brother has a car that comes without any ashtrays and HE SMOKES! WTF? He bought it that way on purpose so he wouldn't smoke as much and so his car wouldn't stink.... I think it stinks anyway

Re: The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

Every car I've ever had, had one in it, and I've never used it. I thought ashtrays in cars were for old people that smoke with the windows up.

Re: The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

In NY you can't talk on a cell phone and drive and you can only smoke outside. this includes bars and clubs. Good thing I got out when I did.

Yes, yes I am, and what of it, yo?! It was used for the drama factor but a very true comparison...

But back to the topic... even if you don't smoke it's always good to have the extra storage...

Re: The Quiet Anti-smoking Car Movement

Yeah, now when I go to the club I actually have to take my whole key ring in with me, used to just take the clicker off and leave my keys in the ashtray
