Did people tell you that really anoying pete and repete story when you were younger? If I knew a guy named pete when I was growing up I would tell him that story every day until he punched me in the eye.....and then I would tell it to him twice a day

yes, i have shocks.
the thing with shocks is, they make it hard to bring it up the first foot or so, but once you get it up high enough it'll smooth out and be easier to balance than a hardtail.
on the strong brakes, just use them more/in the rain. the brakes will leave dust on the rims, and make them less strong. or you could loosen them. Best bet is too just get used to them in my opinion
