I Need Help!!
I Need Help!!
Seriously, I need help ASAP. My computer blew up on me and I have got it running again by pulling a MacGuyver on it with a used condom and a new piece of bubble gum (or was it the oter way around?). I have a feeling it it going to blow up again and need some parts...donations would be the best but I could try to scrape some cash or DVD's together if the deal was right.
Here is what I need for starters:
1) A hard drive: anything larger than 10-12 GB would suffice. I have 400+GB of drives on my machine but they are all full of new Miltown video stuff so I cant quite just write over that. It was just my boot drive that blew up on me so no big loss (if I can find another good drive) since I have images of my boot drive stored on DVD and I can restore it in about 10 minutes.
2) A 420-450+ watt ATX, P4 compatible, power supply. It doesnt need SATA or PCI Express crap at all. I think I am overdrawing my supply which is causing me some of my other problems. I have a total of 200GB of hard drives powered internally plus another 280GB pulling power from the IEEE-1394 ports. Add to that the overclcoked Pentium 4, the overcloccked GeForce4 card, the additional ATA100 IDE controller, all the cooling fans, and the DVD writer and I think I have more than expended my 300W limit.
Just a note to Miltown guys and gals....the video will not be worked on again till I can get this computer fixed...sorry. I will try my damndest to get it working right again so I can get that video ready for Darin but I cant promise anything since money is tighter than a 24 year old nun right now.
If anyone can help me out with parts or advice on a good place to find said parts give me a call. I will be in the MKE December 11th and 12th so give a hollar NOW!
Thanks,
Frankie

Re: I Need Help!!
frank, sams club has a sale going on hard drives....120 bucks for a 110 gig i think with a $30.00 rebate we just had to get our vid. guy a new one so he could keep working on the stuff....it might be higher gig im not shure, i dont really know **** about computers. i know they have smaller ones for even less.
Re: I Need Help!!
Any small-ish drive would do. I think I got the hard drive issue patched for now but I still could use another drive to act as a backup, since I just took my backup drive and moved it over to my active boot drive. But I would feel safer with a drive I can use as a backup again.....
Re: I Need Help!!
best buy..we just went and bought it today. $89.00 for an 80 gig hard drive. they had 60 and 40 gig hard drives for less if you dont need 80 gigs. they had a 120 gig for 139...
Re: I Need Help!!
If you can wait for a good deal watch on TECHBARGAINS.COM . They show all the good deals on computer stuff. If you pay more than 75 cents a gig you're getting robbed. Staples has the Maxtor 250GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache hard drive on sale for $129.94 shipping free, but they also have smaller drives for a good deals.
Re: I Need Help!!
Yeah, I checked both of those sites. I was hoping someone had something laying around to get me going now with no more money out of my pocket. Chimney pulled through for me on the hard drives and I'll be picking them up this weekend. Thanks man
