Which Cellular Provider is Best?
Re: Which Cellular Provider is Best?
My experince with Nextel has been awful. If it weren't a company phone I wouldn't have it. I can be setting at home or in the office with the phone right next to me and it won't ring when a call comes through. I'll just get a message later. Also the direct connect sucks a$$. Over half the time can I not have a conversation without it fukin up. My girl has sprint and it's o.k.

I currently have Verizon and can't say one bad thing about them except they don't have much for "in the middle plans" I either get very few min. for cheap or TONS of minuets for expensive but I've been a customer for 8 years so I never get teh good deals....the phone works to ends of the earth and back tho and the customer service can't be beat

Bought a Nextel last year, Thought it would be great! Took it to work the first day and it didn't work in side
. The direct connect sucked my ***
. Your better off buying a C.B. with one of those big *** antenna's on your car. Then had to pay $200 to cancel my contract. Went with verizon and not one single drop call in a year :YEAH . I heard sprint is good also. just my

Well I work in Telecom, so I guess I know what I'm talking about. It really depends on what you want. I use my phone for everything, email, web, etc. So look at data plans a lot. I'll stick to the voice side for your case but here you go.
Sprint: PCS is sketchy at best. Some have great luck, but there is no roaming to other towers. So if you are in an area with weak signal, your phone will be useless. Some of the phones also have a hard time switching towers between calls.
AT&T: GSM is getting better, and AT&T has released what's called 3G network in the Detroit area. So basically your phone can download info as fast as a DSL connection, around 300k/sec. However, even though they advertise this great network, you will drop calls. GSM is not a complete network yet, and depending on where you live, you could have headaches.
T-Mobile: See notes regarding GSM
Cingular: Been with them forever. They USED to be good. GSM with Cingular sucks my ***, and they don't know how to process bills either. I had to call 3 months in a row cause they screwed up my plans. Added a line as a family plan, they set it up for another minute package and was getting charged for two plans. Took 3 months to fix. Don't even think about using them.
Nextel: No experience with them. If you got Nextel, just do me a favor. Don't be one of those idiots on direct connect that has it turned up so freakin loud that I can hear your conversation 3 blocks away.
Verizon: Best network out there. I can be standing in an elevator, steel doors, with no signal. My friend at work has verizon, and he's still got full stregth. The "can you hear me now" is not a joke. Next phone I get will be through Verizon for sure.
