Strata!
Strata!
Finally got away from junk and fast food tonight, got back to my roots, and made something good tonight!
Ham and asparagus strata! :YEAH It's pretty good too! Though for anyone wanting to make one, try using 2 cups of mozzarella cheese and toasting then buttering the italian bread first. Should turn out better.
Now if only I can just think of a good sauce and sidedish. :/

Re: Strata!
Recipe for anyone wanting to try it.
Cooking spray
16 (1/2 inch thick) slices of Italian bread
1 cup shredded low-moisture, part-skim mozzarella
1 cup chopped cooked lean ham
8 ounces fresh asparagus spears, cut into 1-inch pieces (about 2 cups)
6 eggs
1 cup skim or low-fat milk
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
First, lightly toast, then butter the 16 slices of bread. Next, evenly coat a casserole dish (any baking dish will do) with cooking spray. Sprinkle one cup of cheese, 1/2 cup of ham, and 1 cup of asparagus over the bread. Cover with the remaining bread in a shingle or sandwich style. Sprinkle on the rest of your cheese, ham, and asparagus.
In a medium sized bowl, beat your eggs, milk, lemon juice, and garlic powder together. Pour the custard evenly over the layers. Cover with aluminum foil.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Cook the strata for about 40-45 minutes until the strata is 160 degrees. And yes, you WILL need a thermometer for this. When it's done, slice it up like a cake, then serve and enjoy.
When I come up with a good sauce and sidedish, I'll post that too. :YEAH
