Polishing ?

I polished one of my heel gaurds last night. How come today they look all cloudy. I sanded then rubbing compound then fine cut compound then polish. Whats the problem? This is my first polish job. Did i miss something?

Talking polishing

the key to polishing is getting ALL the scratches out...not even fine scratches should be seen. u also must use a high speed wheel and the right compounds...just my

I used a dremel. The **** is smooth as glass but for some reason after sitting all night it has milkish like cloudy layer on top. Last night it looked great.

after polishing you have to wash it really good to get the acses polish off. if not you get the milky look.

when i used to do it by hand i finished with 1500 grit with water and a little soap. keep the paper wet all the time. Throw some wax on when u are done. Dont worry about water...just make sure you clean it soon.

If you really want it to shine, use 2000 grit sand paper using wd40 as a lubricant instead of water. After that, hit it with #0000 steel wool, then mothers aluminum polish.

I waxed mine, but the wax actually dulled the shine so I hit it again with mother's.

Bro, if you have any questions or want any help, I just finished my frame and other parts and they came out like a mirror. Just let me know. The key is patience.

p.s. Use paint prep cleaner to clean. I cuts down the wd40 and leaves no residue. It comes in a spray can, you can get it at any auto parts store. This was key, as I used NO water when I polished.
