For you guys who would prefer to choose, what about 16 year old riders? 18? Under 21?
If under the age of 21 (or something) was mandatory to wear a helmet, but otherwise optional, I could swing for something like that.

all about choice - any of you who have ever been where you can go without would know what is being said here. In certain conditions I have gone without. I dont care what the circumstances are, slow, fast, whatever.....its all about choice.

Don't know but in hickville central (Maine) we have the option of not wearing a helmet..... But we don't have half the traffic you guys do (our biggest city is like 250k people) I think we only have like 75 bike casualties a yr up here.
It is kinda nice to take a nice sloooooow (ya know kinda like driving a lawn mower speed) cruise around the lakes or something without the helmet on.
