Tim, I'm new to the sport so I think a track day at this point is out of the question for me. But, what is your track day like? Is it more for novice or hardcore track racers? Full leathers? Is 2 piece okay? Need safety wiring? Etc.. just wondering.

Thanks.

If you are new to the sport then a trackday is just what the doctor ordered. It's better to get out there before you have learned bad habits. You do need to safety wire your oil fill, oil drain, and oil filter. Plus you have to run water wetter or engine ice coolant. Two piece leathers are okay but they need to zip together, riding boots, and gloves that cover the wrist. The sessions are split up between novice, intermediate, and advance. You will be superised at what you will learn while there. And it's funny, the guys that think that are fast on the street turn out to be really slow on the track, and the guys that think they are slow, find out how fast they really are.

I've only put a few hundred miles on my CBR600 F3 thus far. A track day would be great, but I don't know how comfortable I would be on my toy. I was planning on buying a Ninja track ***** (or something) down the road to play with that and keep my F3 for the street. I'd be bummed if I wrecked my F3 at a track day.

I guess I'll have to think about it more. Thanks for your input.

There is no reason to crash at the track. Being your first time out there you are not going to be blazing around. The instructors they have for the novice group are first rate and will help you learn things about your bike that you never knew. In fact the you will never touch your brakes in novice. Not to say you won't be going fast, but its all engine braking. You will be surprised how much you learn and how confident you will become on the track and the street. Feel free to e-mail with any questions, I'll be glad to help you out.
